Hi, I’m KATHY.
It isn’t easy taking the step to contact a therapist. It isn’t easy to admit or talk about some things that impacts us, hurts us or even scares us. Many of us survived distracting ourselves from uncomfortable feelings. Many of us were trained, even from childhood, to ‘hold it all together”, “it’s weak to cry or hurt” or maybe raised in environments where we experienced being shamed and ridiculed for having needs and wants. I hear you. I get it. Everything we do is for a reason and when explored can make perfect sense. Our life strategies and coping are usually designed to protect us, to keep us safe and even addiction helps us numb out or manage uncomfortable feelings temporarily doesn’t it? I hear you. I get it.
We can carry so many unpleasant experiences, right? We may have experienced a myriad of disappointments where those who said they loved us wasn’t reachable, wasn’t there or maybe straight up left and now you are suffering with distrust toward others? Or, maybe somehow you learned that ‘it’s all me, I’m bad and not loveable”. I hear you. I get it.
So, when you are ready let’s explore this together. No longer carrying these experiences alone but let’s do this together.
Let’s use trauma-informed care, attachment based interventions using emotion focused individual therapy (EFIT), emotion focused therapy (EFT) for couples, dialectical behavior therpay and if needed addiction recovery.
