Jesus understands us.

Jesus is not a religion. he is a relationship.

“Having a personal relationship with Jesus” may seem like an odd concept. After all, we can’t see Him. He doesn’t go to work every day or physically gather with friends and family over the dinner table. We’re not able to text Him, follow His Twitter account, or friend Him on Facebook. And yet, He is so real.

Little over 2000 years ago Jesus walked on this earth. Being fully God He surrendered His Godhead to take on humanity. He too endured so much of what hurt us today. He experienced being “different”, often judged and criticized, abused, rejected and abandoned. He experienced grave injustice and held captive to cruelty and torment by others. He faced many temptations and experienced intense emotions. Jesus understands us because He went through this life too.

Jesus came to earth for us. Not to condemn us but to save us.

When sin entered the world humanity became flawed. It made us fall short. As a result, we all have made choices that hurt ourselves and others. Notice how sin impacted our ability to form connections with others. Notice how complicated social interactions can be and notice how quickly our defense mechanisms activate at the hint of conflict. Notice how many of us have been treated by others who were supposed to protect, nurture and love us. As a result of sin, all of us have looked for external things to soothe internal turmoil. We may have exhausted many avenues to find happiness or to find peace in our soul. Maybe we looked for love ‘in all the wrong places”. We may keep searching for that next best thing and yet notice loneliness and discontentment looming in the background of our inner self echoing “what is wrong with me”. Maybe we notice feeling that void that just won’t go away no matter how much money and accomplishment we have? Yes, sin impacts all of us.

Just as sin separates us from one another, it also separates us from God. This is why Jesus came. He came to reconcile us to God and give us life “more abundantly”. Jesus didn’t come here to condemn us or shame us. God is not counting our sins and hold that against us to send us to hell. No way! He came here because of His radical love, empathy and compassion for us in our flawed humanity. He died on the cross for us so we can be set free from the bondage of sin in our life. He wants a relationship with us and this relationship will Rock Your World! Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” God heals lives, embeds possible in the impossible and reconnects us with our Greater Purpose. Come & see that the Lord is good!
